How to calculate a discount
- In “Take X% off”, enter the discount (for example 20) and the original price.
- The sale price appears instantly: 20% off 100 is 80.
- To find the discount you got, enter the old and new price in the “From … to …” row.
Formula: sale price = price × (1 − discount ÷ 100). Stacked discounts multiply: 20% then 10% off is 28% off in total, not 30%.
Questions
How do I work out two discounts in a row?
Apply them one after the other: 20% off 100 is 80, then 10% off 80 is 72. That's 28% off in total.
